Deflated Sharpe ratio

A Sharpe ratio corrected for the number of strategy variations you tried.

Test enough variations and one will look brilliant by luck alone. The deflated Sharpe penalizes the raw figure for the number of trials, giving a more honest estimate of whether the edge is real. A high naive Sharpe next to a low deflated Sharpe is a classic overfitting tell.
