Kelly criterion

A formula for the bet size that maximizes long-run growth of capital.

Kelly sizes each trade from its edge and odds to compound capital fastest over time. Full Kelly is famously volatile, so most traders use a fraction of it, because overbetting an edge you have mis-measured leads straight to deep drawdowns.
