Margin

The collateral your broker requires to open and hold a leveraged position.

Margin is the deposit that backs a leveraged trade; if losses eat into it past a threshold you get a margin call or forced liquidation. Trading well within your available margin is what stops a normal drawdown from becoming a forced exit at the worst moment.
