Risk:reward

The ratio of how much you stand to make versus how much you risk on a trade.

Risk:reward compares the distance from entry to target (reward) against the distance from entry to stop (risk). A 3:1 setup risks 1 to make 3, so it can be profitable even with a sub-50% win rate. It's planned before entry — never widened after the trade goes against you.
