Divergence

When price and a momentum indicator move in opposite directions.

Bearish divergence is price making a higher high while an oscillator makes a lower high; bullish divergence is the reverse. It signals weakening momentum and a possible reversal, but it is a warning, not a trigger, and can persist in strong trends.
