Moving average
A running average of price that smooths noise to reveal the underlying trend.
A simple moving average equally weights the last N closes; an exponential one weights recent prices more heavily and reacts faster. Traders use them to gauge trend direction and as dynamic support or resistance, but they always lag the price that creates them.
